We are a small team of two Mental Health Dietitians based at Trust Headquarters, covering the South Division Mental health wards, one Healthy Young Minds clinic in Tameside and Oldham Learning Disabilities team.
This post was developed in 2012 as a new post and is a good balance of clinical and strategic work. The dietitians work closely with the Modern Matrons for Adults, Older people and Specialist services and are integral in the trust Physical Heath Steering Group and borough Nutrition, Food and Drink meetings.
The successful candidate will lead the continued service improvement across all mental health wards, development of resources and training programmes and supervise and support the Band 6 dietitian.
To develop and deliver an effective, specialised, nutrition advisory and dietetic service to patients under the care of mental health services within Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Key Responsibilities of the Post:
To provide Specialist clinical dietetic support to mental health wards in Stockport, (Adults and Older people) and Rehabilitation and High Support units in Stockport, Heathfield House, Oldham, Rhodes Place and Rochdale, Stansfield place. Additionally one Healthy Young Minds outpatient clinic per week in Stalybridge and occasional referrals from the Early Intervention Team in Tameside.
To provide management supervision to the Band 6 Mental Health /Learning Disabilities Dietitian.
To provide general support for dietitian working in inpatient Healthy Young Minds unit, Community eating disorders (CEDS) dietitian and community dietetic teams in Bury and Oldham regarding mental health issues.
To deliver training to mental health staff and patient groups on nutritional issues
Key Requirements of the Person Specification:
- BSc degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or BSc in relevant science subject and Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics
- Registered as a dietitian with the HCPC
- Attainment of validated post-registration qualification in defined highly specialised clinical area e.g. mental health, eating disorders, diabetes, nutrition support, dementia
- Evidence of CPD including specialist post-registration courses to minimum diploma level or equivalent experience
- Extensive experience of managing a dietetic case load.
- Experience working as an integral member of an MDT
- Ability to provide leadership on matters relating to dietetics and nutrition support
- Experience of working with hospital catering departments, providing advice and guidance on menu development
- Experience of working with patients with eating disorders, common mental illnesses and dementia
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
