We are currently developing our future strategy, which will focus on providing the highest quality mental health and learning disability services.
As part of this, our community (physical health) services in Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services) and Trafford will be moving to a new NHS provider in 2019. For Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services), this will take place on the 1st July 2019
We have been very proud to run community (physical health) services over the last seven years, but we believe there are other provider organisations better positioned to enable these community services to achieve more for the benefit of local people. We are working closely with our staff and colleagues in the new provider organisations to ensure the smoothest possible transfer.
This is a rewarding volunteering opportunity within our mental health services.
We are looking for friendly, approachable and enthusiastic individuals who are able to give their time. Whether you want to gain experience, improve your job prospects or just want to give some of your time to help others, volunteering could be for you!
Aspects of this role include:
• Support the recovery and social inclusion worker to plan and deliver activities.
• Encourage and support service users to participate in a range of planned therapeutic and social activities on and/or off the ward.
• Provide support and encouragement to identified individuals who find it difficult to engage in activities.
• Provide assistance to the recovery and social inclusion worker to ensure that activity resources are utilised and stored appropriately.
• To escort identifies patient off the ward/unit for agreed activities
This role requires a criminal record check, a DBS, please note this is free for volunteers.
In addition to a DBS check, the recruitment process for this role will include two relevant references and a health screen.
You will also undertake a training induction as well as on-going training which is essential to the role.
No previous experience is required for this role; a caring approach and good interpersonal skills are far more important.
