Future plans

We are currently developing our future strategy, which will focus on providing the highest quality mental health and learning disability services.

As part of this, our community (physical health) services in Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services) and Trafford will be moving to a new NHS provider in 2019. For Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services), this will take place on the 1st July 2019

We have been very proud to run community (physical health) services over the last seven years, but we believe there are other provider organisations better positioned to enable these community services to achieve more for the benefit of local people. We are working closely with our staff and colleagues in the new provider organisations to ensure the smoothest possible transfer.

 

Service/Ward/Department Summary:

The Directorate 

The Rehabilitation and High Support Directorate (RHSD) of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust has a range of services including, Low Secure, Intensive Rehabilitation (PICU), Prison In-Reach, Women’s and Men’s Community Step Down Services. 

The Unit 

Bevan Place provides mental health rehabilitation and high support to men aged over 50 years (with an average age of 64 years), who have a severe and enduring mental health issue, such as schizophrenia, and are ready to step down from a medium or low security setting. The team has a proven record in managing service users who have spent a substantial period of time in a secure environment. Many service users also have varying degrees of cognitive impairment and physical illness. The typical length of stay is two to five years. 

Role Summary: 

The Staff Nurse will work with individual patients and multi-disciplinary team members in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. You will be expected to act as a Named Nurse for an allocated number of patients, maintain accurate written records of nursing interventions and ensure effective communication is maintained with MDT members, patients and carers through verbal and written channels. Ensure that the CPA process is effectively implemented and monitored for allocated patients and ensure the safe custody, control and administration of medication. 

Key Requirements of the Person Specification: 

  • To be a registered RMN
  • To have experience of working in an in-patient setting
  • To have a working knowledge of the Mental Health Act
  • To be able to communicate appropriately both written and verbally
  • Ability to complete training in Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression
