About the Trust

We are proud to provide high quality mental health, learning disability and community services across six boroughs of Greater Manchester - Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside and Glossop and Trafford.

Our vision is to enable a happier and more hopeful life for each and every person within our communities.

Our 5,500 staff work tirelessly to deliver the very best care and we receive excellent feedback from our patients. We’re really proud of our #PennineCarePeople and do everything we can to make sure we are a great place to work.

Many of our staff and teams have brought home high profile national and regional awards and we are privileged that some of the most talented professionals in the country choose to work for us. This includes some prominent national mental health experts.

We are one of the first NHS organisations in the country to launch a Just Culture approach. This aims to get to the heart of what, not who, was responsible for an error.

Instead of blaming staff for honest errors, we will support them to come forward and share their experiences to allow lessons to be learned.

We also offer a dedicated staff wellbeing service. This provides lots of help and support for staff experiencing mild to moderate psychological difficulties that are impacting on their work.

Pennine Care is committed to promoting equality of opportunity, celebrating and valuing diversity and eliminating any form of unlawful discrimination across our workforce.

Our ambition is to work together to promote an all-inclusive environment which attracts all candidates and signals our ongoing commitment to both celebrate and promote diversity. We encourage applications from individuals with a lived experience of mental illness, either individually or as a carer.

As a ‘Disability Confident Employer’ we offer a guaranteed interview scheme for disabled applicants who meet the minimum selection criteria at each stage of the selection process.

We are committed to improving the working lives of our employees and developing the Trust as a Great Place to Work.  We offer the a range of family friendly inclusive employment policies and services to support our staff from different backgrounds. In addition we offer the following benefits:

  • 27 days annual leave rising to 29 (after 5 years) and 33 (after 10 years) plus 8 bank holidays- pro rata
  • NHS Pension scheme
  • A dedicated Staff Wellbeing Service
  • Annual personal development review and support for continual personal and professional development
A number of NHS discounts across retail, leisure and travel
  • Flexible Working
  • Staff Discount with Stagecoach and First Buses

We consider ourselves lucky to be based just a few miles from the wonderful city of Manchester. If you’re looking to re-locate, there’s no GREATER place to live and work than MANCHESTER.

Our city offers an outstanding, yet affordable quality of life. Where else does vibrant nightlife and diverse culture meet the peace and tranquillity of the rolling Pennines?

Future plans

We are currently developing our future strategy, which will focus on providing the highest quality mental health and learning disability services.

As part of this, our community (physical health) services in Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services) and Trafford will be moving to a new NHS provider in 2019. For Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services), this will take place on the 1st July 2019

We have been very proud to run community (physical health) services over the last seven years, but we believe there are other provider organisations better positioned to enable these community services to achieve more for the benefit of local people. We are working closely with our staff and colleagues in the new provider organisations to ensure the smoothest possible transfer.
