Future plans

We are currently developing our future strategy, which will focus on providing the highest quality mental health and learning disability services.

As part of this, our community (physical health) services in Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services) and Trafford will be moving to a new NHS provider in 2019. For Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services), this will take place on the 1st July 2019

We have been very proud to run community (physical health) services over the last seven years, but we believe there are other provider organisations better positioned to enable these community services to achieve more for the benefit of local people. We are working closely with our staff and colleagues in the new provider organisations to ensure the smoothest possible transfer.

 

Following significant additional investment within mental health liaison services across Greater Manchester there is an exciting opportunity to join the all age mental health liaison service within Oldham. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide an effective and efficient response to referrals from the Emergency Department and Medical wards at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

You will assess individuals mental health, risk manage, support and appropriately refer on and signpost patients who come through the services within the general hospital. You will be working with a wide range of individuals of all ages, experiencing mental health crises and co-morbid physical and mental health problems.

As part of this dynamic and progressive multidisciplinary team you will also ensure the development of effective interfacing between teams, other mental health services and agencies such as the POLICE, NWAS and local authority and be involved in the co-ordination of S136 of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Within the mental health liaison service you can expect professional support and development in this exciting and challenging area of work. If you are an experienced mental health practitioner who holds professional registration in health or social care, who has a passion for working in an autonomous role with a wide range of people across all ages, including later life this is an opportunity to be part of some exciting service developments.    

These posts will be worked on a shift basis with 24 hour working required including bank holidays and weekends.
