Future plans

We are currently developing our future strategy, which will focus on providing the highest quality mental health and learning disability services.

As part of this, our community (physical health) services in Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services) and Trafford will be moving to a new NHS provider in 2019. For Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services), this will take place on the 1st July 2019

We have been very proud to run community (physical health) services over the last seven years, but we believe there are other provider organisations better positioned to enable these community services to achieve more for the benefit of local people. We are working closely with our staff and colleagues in the new provider organisations to ensure the smoothest possible transfer.

Service/Ward/Department Summary:

North Ward is a busy 24 bedded mixed sex adult acute mental health ward. We are currently seeking to recruit band 5 staff nurses on a permanent contract to complement the staffing team that is already in place. You will be part of a thriving ward which is committed to providing a high level of quality care to the patients they work with.

Role Summary:

You will be an integral part of the team providing direct care to patients with a variety of mental health problems. To act as the named nurse with responsibility for the overall care of an identified group of clients. To regularly act as shift co-ordinator ensuring the smooth running of the clinical area and best utilisation of resources available, with support from senior staff

Key Responsibilities of the Post:

You will be involved in provide a high level of safe and effective care. Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, adhere to all Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, and liaise with the multidisciplinary team Provide mentorship to others

Key Requirements of the Person Specification:

First level registration (RMN) with experience of working in a Mental Health setting

Good understanding of mental illness with knowledge of treatments and interventions appropriate for individuals with acute mental health needs.
